What is the difference between comfort finishing’s on mattresses?

Smooth Top – directly attached to the support system  - usually indicates a firm feeling bed.
Pillow Top – appears as an additional layer of comfort attached to the support system. Condenses the edges of the foams not allowing them to return to their natural position. A pillow top finish usually indicates a medium to soft feel
Box Top – has the appearance of an additional mini mattress attached to the support system. A box top finish allows the foam to stay in its natural position – usually indicates a medium to soft feel.

What is Viscoflex?
(used in the Vienna & Venice boxtop mattresses)

Viscoflex is Dunlop Foams’ new Technology of Low Resilience (LR) visco elastic foams, scientifically developed slow recovery visco-elastic cushioning that perfectly contours to body shape to reduce pressure and maximise comfort.

A trial that was held over three months claimed that over 90% of people trying this particular brand of viscoelastic mattress experienced marked improvements in the quality of sleep. Other studies claimed 83% reduction in tossing and turning, and deeper sleep was experienced by participants.

This product was originally developed for the Health Care Sector as a method of reducing pressure ulcers (bed sores).Viscoflex is temperature neutral, which means it moulds instantly to your bodies needs.

What is Latex?
(used in the Paris Box Top & the full Latex Range)

Latex is a Natural Rubber (Healthy, Supportive & Comfortable). It is naturally derived from the Malaysian rubber tree, is non-toxic and contaminant free and its natural properties inhibit bacterial and fungal growth, making it also inhospitable for dust mites.

Hundreds of tiny cores have been created within the latex mattresses allowing air to flow naturally for a more hygienic and sound sleep environment.
Latex foam is more breathable than any synthetic foam, keeping you constantly cool and comfortable. Latex moves with you, providing exquisite support in any sleep position, and less restless nights.

What is a PLATFORM BASE?

Our manufacturer uses the best quality pine for our timber platform bases, this ensures our bases are structurally better against competitor products. The slats are positioned at the right distance apart to ensure maximum support of our products. The bases are finished off with a dense layer of cardboard and high density foam to compliment your ‘back to sleep®’mattress. The corners are machine rounded to ensure no sharp edges.

All components are locally made and manufactured.

Available in our platform base range is the option fortwo or four draws for additional storage areas. (Number of draws is dependant on the size of the base.)

Dimensions of draws in draw bases = 645mm width x 170mm depth x  570mm length

What are 3 ZONE MAXI POCKET SPRINGS?
(used in 3 of our Boutique Range mattresses)

The Pocket Spring is all about getting really selfish about your own comfort. High quality individually pocketed springs contour to the individual shape of your body and allow you to move without disturbing your partner.

Our 3 Zone Maxi pocket spring mattresses consist of a grid of springs, each in their own cotton fabric pocket. Because they’re not wired together, each spring is able to work more or less independently – the weight on one spring doesn’t affect those surrounding it (except for pull by the mattress cover).

The middle third of the Zone Maxi pocket springs contain thicker springs as 70% of your body weight lies in the middle of the bed (therefore the pocket springs need to be stronger). The pocket springs are encased in a 3 inch thick dunlop foam box.

Tests consistently rate 3 Zone Maxi pocket-spring mattresses the most comfortable type of inner-spring mattress on the market.

What are BONNELL SPRINGS?
- (used in our all Original Range Beds)

The Bonnell Springs are coiled spiral hourglass-shaped springs.

Bonnell Springs are joined together with helicoils to form a spring unit. The Emerald mattress has a 5 turn inner spring system, while the Sapphire and Diamond mattress, has a zoned bonnell spring system, utilizing a thicker spring gauge, therefore enabling a firmer spring section in the middle 1/3 of the bed (which is where 70% of your body weight lies).

How do I know if it’s time for a new mattress?

At back to sleep® we recommend changing your mattress every 5-8 years. By this time, the bed should have deteriorated to approximately 75% of its original quality and support. Your body should tell you when it is time for a new mattress. If you regularly wake up feeling pain or are feeling sore or stiff this usually is a good indication that you need a new mattress. However, excessive use or misuse of your mattress may require you to replace your mattress sooner.
